The indoor pool at the Katz JCC is open to members ages 13 and up and offers dedicated lap swim times throughout the day. Whether you’re training, relaxing, or staying fit, our pool provides the perfect environment to meet your swimming goals. The Katz JCC indoor pool is a space for fitness, wellness, and community.

Lap swimming is one of the most effective full-body workouts. It improves cardiovascular health, builds endurance, strengthens muscles, and is gentle on the joints. Whether you’re cross-training for other sports or simply looking to stay fit, regular swim sessions are a powerful way to boost your performance and recovery.

To maintain a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment, please review the following rules and lap swim guidelines before entering the water.

Pool Rules

  • The pool cannot be used when a lifeguard is not present.
  • Bandages and Band-Aids must be removed before entering the pool.
  • Open wounds or sores that require a bandage MUST be healed. NO open sores or wounds.
  • No running, pushing or rough play on the pool deck.
  • No diving in the shallow end of the pool.
  • Children requiring the use of flotation devices must be accompanied in the water with an adult.
  • Infants and children who are not toilet trained must wear swim diapers.
  • Children under 14 years must be accompanied by an adult in the pool area.
  • Lap Swimming is for those swimming the full length of the pool those who want to engage in stationary water aerobics activities and play are to use the open swim hours and lanes.
  • Please be courteous and keep your arms and legs inside your lane.
  • Lap swimmers are expected to share a lane during busy lap swim hours.

Lap Swim Etiquette

  • Be prepared to split or circle swim during busy times.
  • Circle swim is counter-clockwise. Always notify others before joining a lane and match their pace.
  • Keep arms and legs in your lane. Avoid wide strokes like butterfly when sharing.
  • Rest at the right corner of the lane; turn at the left corner to keep the flow moving.
  • Return kickboards and pull buoys to storage after use.
