Shanah Tovah!
By: Marg Rosenblatt
As we prepare to welcome the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, I want to extend heartfelt wishes for a year filled with sweetness, health and peace. This season invites us to reflect on the past year while looking ahead with hope and renewal.
At the JCC, we are marking the holiday in a few meaningful ways. Stop by our lobby to enjoy coloring sheets and honey sticks – simple yet powerful symbols of the sweet year we wish for one another.
We are also excited to observe the holiday with our longtime friend, Chef Jerzy Gonzalez, who will lead a hands-on cooking class, Cooking Rosh Hashanah Favorites, from 12 to 3 pm, Sunday, Sept. 21. Together, we’ll prepare festive dishes such as orange pomegranate salad, sweet round challah and apple pie pops – foods that embody the flavors and traditions of the new year.
Later that week, we will bring our celebration of Jewish culture beyond our walls with Jewish Heritage Night at the Phillies on Thursday, Sept. 25. This special evening at Citizens Bank Park offers community, baseball and pride, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History.
Looking further ahead, I encourage you to save the date for our Festival of Arts, Books & Culture this November. We’ll kick off with an evening of Dueling Pianos on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 7 pm, followed by a month of inspiring events and experiences that showcase talented authors, creativity and community.
On behalf of the entire JCC family, I wish you and your loved ones a year filled with joy, connection and many sweet moments. Shanah Tovah U’Metukah — a good and sweet new year.
With warmth,
Marg Rosenblatt
